Caroline and Simon Baker purchased the practice in 1992, with the aspiration to provide the standard of care for pets and owners that they would wish for their own pets.
Caroline's empathy with her patients and understanding of the concerns and worries of pet owners meant the number of clients on the practice books grew rapidly. The practice has had 2 vets since 1998, and in December 2006 Pip Mason became a partner in the practice. We are keen that continuity of care is maintained, so encourage you to request an appointment with the vet of your choice.
In March 2005 we moved from our first floor premises in The Maltings, to a purpose designed premises on the ground floor. This move has provided us with a practice with many modern practice design ideas incorporated, such as separate dog and cat waiting rooms and kennel wards, an aseptic operating theatre, and a designated imaging room for ease of workup of your pet's illness. For more information on our practice facilities take the practice tour.
The Good Companions Veterinary Clinic is a small animal practice, seeing dogs, cats, rabbits and a variety of small furries. We pride ourselves on the compassion and empathy we offer our patients and their owners. All staff are pet owners, hence we understand and sympathise with the feelings and concerns our clients have for their pets. Being a small practice enables us to offer continuity of care, ensuring you are always able to see the same veterinary surgeon. This builds a close relationship between owner and vet that improves the quality of care we can provide to your pet and support we can offer to you through worrying and emotional times.
In 2005 we achieved Teir 2 accreditation in the
RCVS Practice Standards Scheme.
This scheme was launched in January 2005 by the RCVS to establish a quality assurance framework to promote and maintain
the highest standards of veterinary care.
